Jose Alaniz is currently writing his dissertation, "Necrotopia: Discourses of Death & Dying in Late/Post-Soviet Russian Culture," which among other things examines the works of Vladimir Sorokin, Alexander Sokurov, the Necrorealists, and the Russian hospice movement. His research interests include issues of death & dying, disability studies, cinema, and comics (not always in that order).
