Since 1976, Aleksandr Mindadze (b. 1949; pictured left) and his creative partner, the director Vadim Abdrashitov (b. 1945), have produced over ten films. The duo was awarded the Golden Ram (Russia's Golden Globe) award in 1994 for their contribution to Russian cinema. Many of their films received Russian and international awards. Play for a Passenger (1995) won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Time of the Dancer was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1997 Kinotavr Film Festival in Sochi and several international awards.
