George Romero

Film Director.

Geroge Romero, best known for his classic black-and-white cult chiller about flesh-eating zombies, Night of the Living Dead (1968), is director of more than other fourteen films, including Monkey Shines (1988), Creepshow (1982), and Dawn of the Dead (1978). A graduate of Carnegie Mellon Institute (now Carnegie Mellon University) in art, theatre, and design, he is, along with Andy Warhol, among Pittsburgh's best-known artists. Rather than moving to Hollywood or New York, Romero has continued to make features away from the movie mainstream, often drawing on local talent. His recent director's work includes his adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Half (1993).
